June: It's a Wrap! I Spent the Whole Month Doing What?

I've decided I'd like to include monthly wrap-ups here on the bloggity-blog. You know something I can look at around the end of each month to prove to myself that I actually did something besides just pinning away all my dream houses I'll be moving into once Martha Stewart hires me as her replacement. In the mean time, this may give you a chance to catch up on some things you may have missed around here {because I know you have nothing better to do} AND it also gives me the opportunity to share bits & pieces from my other life such as all the paper goodness going on in my stationery shop.

So, incase you missed it:

*We started off the month with a little chemistry lesson.
*I cooked and we all lived to talk about it.
* Then I made some dog-gone fun wall art. No seriously, the pups gave it 4 paws up.
*I shared some freebies that you should hurry over & download now for all your 4th of July festivies.
*The new series, "Blogs I'm Lovin' & You Should Too" started.
*And I brought home some ugly, possibly infested chair to makeover.

June was also a busy, busy month for the Delightfully Noted shop!
Just in the knick of time I finished up these
royal blue & ivory wedding invites for some friends of ours who are tying the knot in July!

I knew when I first opened up shop that being an invitation designer I would be a small part of family's special moments & celebrations but I never anticipated the stories behind some of my custom orders. Sometimes touching, but also heartbreaking like this custom design for a little girl who was attacked by a dog and had to receive 80 stiches in her face!! What a brave, little cookie.

Then I also worked with one of my favorite customers on some personalized note cards for her to send the love of her life when he deploys for the FOURTH and FINAL time this September.
Their "thing" is cupcakes. While he's away overseas he always sends her her favorites from Georgetown Cupcakes so she wants to be able to send him something simple & sweet to remind him of home and the love he has awaiting him. Awww......ain't that some off the charts sweetness?
I'm thinking about adding these to the shop. Whatcha think?

So let's see what July has to bring us, shall we?

{New} Fairy Birthday Invitations......Sometimes I Do Work.

I realize it appears as though I am always having fun crafting away but believe it or I do work & clean sometimes. Okay, so maybe the cleaning part is a little stretch of the imagination & I admit as of lately the working on my shop part probably is too. I go through these periods of creative lulls with my invitations & stationery & I admit ever since my surgery I've had a difficult time finding that creative spark again.

Of course, as always I am forever grateful for my customers because all it takes is for one of them to come along & kick my bootay back into gear. Ya know, get those creative juices flowing again!
That was the case with this recent custom order I did for an acquaintance from my high school days {by the way if you run an Etsy shop or small biz & do not have a Facebook account yet for your business you really are missing out on a tremendous free marketing tool! Same goes for you bloggers.}

Anywho, this mama is raising a beautiful set of twin girls & was looking for some fairy themed invitations.
After a little brainstorming I was able kick my the creative roadblock over & come up with a fun & charming invitation perfect for her little birthday fairies.

Which leads me into introducing to you the newest kids on the block.

These fairy invites are now available in the shop!

You want to know the best part? Customers can pick a hair & eye color to create a design to resemble their little fairy princess. I mean what mother doesn't like that?

You can check out all the details here.

So like I said I do work "sometimes".

Are you planning a birthday party any time soon? What themes are your kids into lately?

Valentine's 2012 Collection & The Cutest Inspiration Ever!

The 2012 Delightfully Noted Valentine's collection is here. It's hard to believe we have to switch from Christmas mode to Valentine's mode so quickly but hey that's retail for ya!

Inspired by this little guy!
Isn't he cutie? This is my nephew & he's going to be our ticket to fame some day. Seriously, I've never seen a kid love music more than he does.
That guitar goes EVERYWHERE with him.
Thanks to him he helped me come up with the Rock Star themed Valentine's idea.
I'm sure he'll be looking for his paycheck soon.

Speaking of holidays, am I the only one who has been too lazy to put away the Christmas decorations?  I guess the stomach flu gave me some what of a pass but I am seriously thinking of adding a "holiday packer" to my list of people I would pay to do my work for me.
Along with someone to put away my laundry.
And someone to change my bed sheets.
And someone to fill my gas tank.
Wow, my list is getting quite long!

It Ain't Always Pretty

One of the biggest misconceptions people have about me when they learn about my shop Delightfully Noted is that I'm a trained graphic artist. Nothing, my friends, could be further from the truth. I am actually a self-taught wannabe graphic artist and quite honestly if a REAL graphic artist ever observed how I go about creating my designs they'd probably laugh themselves into a coma. Which I'm not even sure is medically possible but I'm now thinking if life's events called for me to be comatose that's exactly how I would want to go......laughing up a storm.

Last night I happen to be cleaning up my hard drive and came across a few of my rough drafts that I worked on per customer's requests. The humble beginnings of some of my designs can be rather hysterical.

Half devil. Half squirrel.  The saddest part about this little guy is that he's apparently confused and storing his nuts in the wrong cheeks. Talk about some junk in the trunk!

Fortunately, for my customers {and my business} my designs go through lots of edits before I present them.

Speaking of designs, don't forget to mind your p's and thank yous after the holidays!  New winter themed thank you cards are now available in the shop & they are perfect for showing your appreciation for all the goodies and gifts that will be bestowed upon you & your family this holiday season.

Better then squirrel devil, right?
